We all love baby George...

The biggest two love watching a programme on CBeebies at the moment called 'Baby Jake'.  He lives in a windmill and has lots of brothers and sisters. The theme tune has the lyrics 'we all love baby Jake' which we always change to 'baby George' as baby Jake reminds us all of our baby George.  Evie and Oliver also dote on George as much as Jake's siblings do to him.

This inspired the title on the layout I made yesterday:

The design is based on a sketch on the Elle's Studio blog.  As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew that I wanted to use it as I just loved the idea of using papers to make a banner like that.  The supplies on the page are pretty old: I dipped into a bag of  papers and pulled out ones which I could cut sections from.  I was really pleased to come across the 'G' card which was part of a Cosmo Cricket sheet.

The journaling reflects on how we all instantly fell in love with George and were so glad and blessed to have him in our lives.

Confetti Card...

As part of my Family album the other week, I made a card insert with a clear front which was filled with punched 'confetti'.  Doing this gave me an idea to try to make a Valentine's card for my other half.  Using my old, but still very usable Craft Robo, I cut out the people which I created from tracing and welding some images together to make them hold hands.  I then punched, punched and punched some more (until I had a blister on my finger!).  This is a great way to use up small scraps of paper.

To contain the hearts, I found a small sealable bag which I filled with my punched hearts.  This was stuck down to the inside of the card before folding part of the card back inside to cover this section up.  A handwritten title, a  small heart sticker and finally a Crate Paper border sticker placed down the inside part of the card and it was complete.

I'm trying to incorporate this idea into a layout at the moment but it's proving more difficult than I thought.  I do like a challenge though!

The monthly challenge for February on the Sarah's Cards blog is to use a movie theme to inspire a layout.  Right now, Oliver is obsessed with Star Wars.  In the Autumn, he got a cheap light-up lightsabre to play with and was natural with it.  I managed to capture some photos of him practising his moves whilst watching the original film, taking advice from his idol, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

'Jedi Knight in Training'

When he grows up he wants to be a Jedi, just like Obi-Wan Kenobi.  At least he doesn't aspire to be Darth Vader!

Sarah's Cards January Kit Layouts...

The January kit from Sarah's Cards featured papers from Pebbles 'Fresh Goods' range.  I particularly liked the kraft pages as well as the embellishments from Studio Calico, COsmo Cricket and Echo Park.

'I want Star Wars lego for Christmas!'

'George at One'

'Making your Promise'

I did a layout for each of the kids, showing how the versatile the kit was for girl or boy layouts and also to make sure that there's an even balance of layouts in their albums.  It's only when I come to file layouts away that I realise that I'll have made loads for one of them and not the others so am making a big effort this year to try and create a more equal amount of pages for all of them.  And fit in our weekly pages for our 2012 album too!
