Been away...

..in Belfast for a few days. Lots of fresh air and walking made us feel so much better although I've a feeling another cold is on it's way.

Loved playing with my new camera: very excited about the effects I can create. Need to start saving for more lenses though now!

Eyes tight shut...

Been working on this layout for most of this week, on and off. Again, I've used papers from the Studio Calico kit along with some other its and bobs. I've used a picture that would normally get condemned to the back of a drawer somewhere but wanted to record how we hardly ever manage to get a photo of the two of us without one or both of us having our eyes closed! There's a classic example of this in our wedding snaps where the same photo was taken over and over again to get it right!

Supplies:
Tinkering Ink papers
Fontwerks papers
Love Elsie papers
Scenic Route arrow
Fontwerks label
Jenni Bowlin journaling card
Hambly overlay
Heidi Swapp ghost hibiscus
AC letters
Jenni Bowlin rub ons

If home is where the heart is...

...then I have many homes.

I was inspired by the paper from Fontwerks by Nisa Finn, which had parts of a map of the UK on it, to create a layout about the places I have lived and would like to live. I handcut the outline of the UK and tore the patterned papers as well as using a paint dabber to highlight ares of the page.

Supplies:
Paint dabber
MM tiny alphas
AC thickers
arrow stickers
Jenni Bowlin ticket and rub on
Heidi Swapp heart
PP - fontwerks, scenic route, love elsie

Really wanted to use dymo strips for the place names but had run out of tape so may change this later.

Studio Calico

After reading Kirsty Wiseman's blog, I went for a peak at a fairly new US kit club. They'd sold out back in September but I managed to order the October kit. It arrived yesterday and is truly stunning. It was beautifully packaged in brown paper and string (a Sound of Music moment!) and full of yummy goodies.

There's a preview of the next kit there today and it looks great too so I feel a subscription coming on...

Go and have a look here.

On a roll...

DH has been watching rugby this afternoon, so with a couple of hours to entertain myself, I've managed another layout.

'Going Away' is about when Evie went away with my parents for the weekend when it was my birthday. It was the first time she'd been away with anyone else and she was a star for them and had a fantastic time, especially when they went on the 'choo-choo'.

Supplies:
Scalloped cardstock

Scenic Route papers
AC rub on letters and felt flowers
Jenni Bowlin Chipboard frame
Heidi Swapp chipboard letters
Paint Dabber - it's the first time I've used paint in this way on a layout
My Mind's Eye journaling card

New layout...

... 2 today.

If you lift open the '2', it reveals this:

The journaling tells the story of Evie's 2nd birthday; what happened, who was there, what she got as presents.

Supplies:
glittery pink cardstock
Love Elsie papers
SEI papers
Around the Block papers
AC foam letters
Various other letters
Jenni Bowlin journaling card
Heidi Swapp clear stars
gems
stickles (lots of it!)
Scenic Route chipboard shapes
Monkey badge from Paperchase

+ 1 cheesy grin!

Tagged!

I was tagged by Sam so here are my answers:

4 Places I have worked
- Well, I started out working as a parttime waitress in a hotel aged 15 to earn a few pennies. After I finished my A levels, I spent 2 summers working in a cafe in the town. I spent the summer of 1997, working on the seafront in Scarborough serving ice cream, burgers etc and making candy floss. I cannot stand the stuff now knowing that it's just sugar and food colouring. The smell of it is enough to make me feel sick! After Uni, I worked in a call centre for a couple of weeks and then a printing company as an administrator for a while. It gave me enough money to fund my nights out and kept me happy for a while. Since 2002, I've been teaching at the same school. So, I have a variety of skills to put on my CV: silver service waitress, candy floss maker, phone answerer and crowd controller!!

4 Places I've visited - Northern Ireland: we got engaged at Giant's Causeway so it's a special place for us. I went interrailing around Europe after I finished my PGCE and did France (Paris, Bordeaux, Biarritz), Spain (Barcelona), back to France (Nice, Monaco), Italy (Rome, Sorrento) and back to Paris. I've also been to loads of places in Germany and Austria. Basically been to loads of places in Europe. Loads more I'd love to do too.

4 Favourite foods - Moules Marinieres and chips, Roast chicken, gravy and bread sauce, Curry and fish and chips (even better if they're at the seaside). Oh and pancakes.

4 Places I would rather be - France and to be more precise, Brittany. I love the scenery and the beaches there. Oh and the food!!! Bed is a good place to be, as is the sofa under a duvet in my pjs. At my Mum and Dad's in Scarborough is another good place to be. The hotel we stayed at in London the other week was a pretty cool place too. Can I add Northern Ireland too. There's too many places I'd much rather be.
